Migrants in Victoria Square, central Athens / Mετανάστες στην πλατεία Βικτωρίας

Over 2,000 migrants and refugees from Afghanistan, Syria, Iran and Iraq, live for more than a month in Victoria Square, central Athens. Immigrants catalyze the square after they arrive at Piraeus port by ships that daily transport them from the islands of the northeastern Aegean after crossing part of the Aegean sea from the Turkish coast using small dinghies . All wish to continue their journey to Germany and wait to receive money sent from relatives in their home country while some say they can not find enough to go on. Everyday volunteers from European countries, residents and soup kitchen distribute free meals to immigrants. Athens on September 30, 2015
